The filter is the “lungs” of the entire pool installation. To properly fulfill its function, it must be in perfect condition and cleanliness.

For the correct treatment of the water of a swimming pool, it has to be balanced between a physical aspect and a chemical aspect.
Precise sizing of the filter and water pump to be used is necessary so that a total water filtration cycle can be carried out in a period of time that should not exceed 4/6 hours. In this way, crystal clear water can be more easily ensured.

The washing procedure aims to remove the impurities accumulated in the filter during the cleaning process. After washing, it must be rinsed for a few seconds to remove any traces of dirty and compacted water in the filter.
It must be washed periodically, usually after vacuuming the pool.

Water is said to be chemically balanced when it has a pH between 7.2-7.4, a total alkalinity between 100 and 150 ppm (part per million) and a total hardness between 150 and 300 ppm. A balanced water must be chemically well treated when it has a free residual chlorine content (the most common oxidant in disinfection) between 0.5 and 2.0 ppm and its pH does not exceed 7.4. Together with these values, the chloramine content must not exceed 0.5 ppm and cyanuric acid (stabiliser) 75 ppm.

– The pH value indicates whether the water is acidic or alkaline, and to what degree. The scale ranges from 0 to 14.
– The pH of the water is neutral when it is around a value close to 7.
– It is said that the pH of a water is acidic when its value is less than 7.
– It is said that the pH of a water is alkaline when its value is greater than 7.

This parameter is important because our body is sensitive to the pH of water.
For example: the pH value of human eye liquid is 7.4, a low pH value irritates the eyes and dries the skin.
On the other hand, the pH values affect the disinfection power of the water: a high pH neutralizes the disinfecting power of the chlorine and a pH that is too low consumes the chlorine quickly.
Another important aspect to mention is the fact that the high pH makes the water cloudy and favors limescale incrustation, while the low pH favors the corrosion of metals (eg stainless steel stairs).
